Rapid Response

Skills Initiative
.

The Tasmanian Government’s Department of State Growth (Skills Tasmania) Rapid Response Skills Initiative provides up to $3000 towards the cost of training for people who have lost their jobs because they have been made redundant, the place they worked has closed, or the employer had to let staff go.

To assist individuals in making the most of their training fund $500 of that $3,000 is available for endorsed career development professionals to provide career advice about employment and training options.
It’s an innovative program that has been recognised and awarded by the Career Development Association of Australia.

Career Athlete is currently engaged in this project with Christian Ellston (Managing Director) delivering the career advice component of the program since 2014.

Purpose.

With a significant numbers of Tasmanians now out of work due to the coronavirus, the existing Rapid Response Skills Initiative has been expanded with an additional $6.3 million to help redeploy people who have lost their job.

To support Tasmanians in these challenging times,$3,000 will be available for individuals to gain skills or licences to help them into a new role.

Program Structure

Career Athlete has designed a three staged program to identify and plan employment and training options.

1. Session 1: Listen
2. Session 2: Plan
3. Session 3: Act

Each session lasts 1 hour (three in total) and is accessible via video conferencing through Google Meet. The cost of the full program will be covered for those who are eligible and approved through the Rapid Response Skills Initiative, so is effectively free.
