About.

Since its inception in October 2013, Career Athlete has been partnering with like-minded organisations to create innovative education solutions that lead to systemic change, create educated and job ready individuals, address equity issues, and contribute to local, national and global employment and economic growth.

nexus
 noun
/ˈneksəs/
/ˈneksəs/
[singular] (formal)
  1. a complicated series of connections between different things

Career Athlete is the nexus.

Established in October 2013

Career Athlete was created to connect emerging education, employment, economic and career development strategies and approaches to make a positive impact on complex local, national and global systems and individuals.

After ten years working in Higher Education in Australia (University of Tasmania, University of Queensland and University of Wollongong) and having concurrently completed a Bachelor of Education (University of Wollongong) and a Graduate Certificate in Career Development at the Perth Graduate School Of Business (Edith Cowan University), Career Athlete Managing Director Christian Ellston established Career Athlete to solve what he perceived as 'siloed' approaches to education, employment, economic growth and equity that were inefficient and failed to adequately leverage local, national and international partnerships.

Our Goal

Drawing on more than 30 years (combined) of global education and employment experience Career Athlete uses a unique approach to draw together the emerging but sometimes isolated specialist spheres of:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Economics
  • Equity
  • Health
  • Sport

We create a nexus that draws upon the strengths and shared objectives of the isolated spheres to create innovative solutions that utilise partnerships to achieve outputs and outcomes that are efficient and scalable in their impact and reach.

We then work to establish (develop, implement and evaluate) these solutions to ensure their ongoing sustainability beyond the scope of our involvement.

Managing Director

Christian Ellston is an innovator, educator and sports industry professional who helps organisations leverage the power of partnerships and innovation to find unique solutions to complex problems by identifying a nexus between isolated 'specialist' spheres.

He doesn't have much respect for the status quo...

Before establishing Career Athlete, Christian spent 10 years in higher education as an educator and Career Advisor. After a successful career helping individual students to further their education and gain graduate employment, Christian now devotes his time to initiating, designing, implementing and evaluating innovative partnerships between the 'specialist' spheres of education, employment, economics, equity, health and sport in order to create systemic change and achieve greater education and employment outcomes and economic growth.

Christian has a diverse taste in music, appreciates modern art, surfs, mountain bikes and walks his dog on the beach to relax. He's also been known to enjoy a good Tasmanian Pinot Noir and raw milk cheese pairing.

Christian is available to explore how Career Athlete can help solve your complex problems, as well as private consultations. Book a meeting time (via Google Meet) using this calendar.
